Thank you for the interesting podcast! I had to think of a concept I’m very interested in and that I came upon in terms of language learning/teaching: “affordances”. Every living organism has affordances, things they find in their ecological sphere. For instance, a banana is an affordance for a monkey. Seeing affordances in this respect is mostly biologically driven. However, for humans, there are more complex affordances as well, and they need awareness, that is you need to have figured out that certain things may be useful in order to see them at all. In terms of chances/opportunities, I think it may be that some things are an affordance for one person, but not for another. And that we need a certain, general openness to train ourselves in finding those chances that would be appropriate for us. It’s probably also related to our current wellbeing, both to see chances and whether they are useful to us at the moment at all.

Sorry for answering in English. As a language teacher, you know about the delicate relationship between teacher and learner. I am a language teacher myself. Although one knows it’s like a temporary, maybe artificial relationship, it becomes very important for the learning process. So I love your weekly podcasts because it feels like a friend is telling me about his life. And this requires something called intersubjectivity, you know referring to shared knowledge etc. And my impression is that over the last months, in many podcasts and videos there is less of this (at least in the first minutes) and more of – as I know – necessary self-advertisement, also slower speaking rate and the audience targeted seems to be people listening to the podcast for the first time. Sometimes I wonder if I wouldn’t prefer commercials because I know you always point out that you want to keep your content free from those. Sorry, I’m probably just hyper-sensitive, so it’s nothing to worry about or change, but I still wanted to let you know – like you keep saying, just my personal opinion 🙂

Мне очень нравится этот формат! Я буду рада, если ты сделаешь больше в этом. Один раз, я попробовала переводить песню с помощью chat gpt, и не работало очень хорошо. Была песня «синяя птица». Я вообщем очень люблю Машину Времени. И Владимир Высоцкий, и, инструментальная версия песни «я остаюсь», и sergey shnurov и….
